Events

Sidekicks Family Martial Arts Centers is a vibrant community of families all committed to Black Belt Excellence.  Some of the most exciting things that happen at Sidekicks happen outside of regular classes.  Below is the upcoming list of events and reminders.  Events are subject to change without notice.

 

December 2011

10: Black Belt Club Monthly Seminar – 10:30 to Noon

Every month, students enrolled in our Black Belt Training Course attend a special Black Belt Training-only seminar designed to excite and excel their martial arts skills. The Black Belt Training Course is the group of students in our school that have made the commitment to earn their Black Belt, the first milestone on the road to self-mastery. These students exhibit dedication and self-discipline and were chosen because of their enthusiasm and leadership. For more information about Black Belt Training, please make an appointment with your school’s Lead Instructor.

Topic: Third installment on our Kamas Unit. Please remember to bring your kamas with you.

12-14: Stripe Evaluation & Pre-Tests, All Paperwork and Fees for Testing are Due

In order to be eligible for their next belt exam, students must earn a series of 4 Motivational stripes on their belts. These are earned after completing and demonstrating proficiency on a number of benchmarks needed to proceed to the next level. Students test for their stripes during class. This is the final stripe evaluation before testing. All pertinent paperwork is due at this time. These forms include the Testing Application, Parent Evaluation, Teacher Evaluation, and the Test Fee.

17: Belt Testing (All Ranks)

This is the general testing for all students eligible to test for their next belt rank. Students should become eligible by earning a series of four motivational stripes on their belts for meeting each of the outlined benchmarks for their particular level. All Regularly scheduled classes are cancelled on this day with the exception of our iLoveKickboxing.com classes. Location is currently TBA.

19-22: Winter Break Camp, Week 1

Looking for a fun and constructive activity for your child(ren) during one of the upcoming public school teacher workdays or holidays? Join us for our FunCamps!

Camps offer all of the structured fun of our popular SummerCamps on select school holidays. Call or visit for more information, or simply complete the registration form at right and return to the front desk. LIMITED SPACES AVAILABLE.

1. Drop Off: 7:00 – 8:30 AM

2. Pick Up: 3:00 – 6:30 PM

3. Students need to bring daily: Lunch, 2 Snacks, Uniform, Camp T-Shirt
Book to read, Curriculum Journals, Sparring Gear (if applicable).

31: New Year’s Eve Lock-In

Every year, Sidekicks celebrates the New Year with a kick! The premier party of the year is our New Year’s Eve Lock-In. Here, kids come to the school and spend the night playing games, eating good food, celebrating the countdown to 2012 and best of all gaining memories that will last a lifetime.

Some of Mr. Cabrera’s favorite memories growing up training in Master Cabrera’s school were at the New Year’s Eve Lock-In. One of his favorite pictures of all time is at the lock-in when he was 11 or 12 with a few other kids and Master Cabrera is showing them how to dance to Janet Jackson. It’s been almost 20 years and he still remembers that experience clear as day.

This year give your children the gift of an experience like this; one that they will remember forever.
